The Embassy of Finland
Architects Mikko Heikkinen and Markku Komonen
3301 Mass. Ave NW - Washington

Embassy of Finland -All the metal members surrounding the glass block windows, the trellis in the foreground as well as two large towers (not pictured) are made of either bronze or copper alloy. This building, completed in 1994, was constructed to look well weathered here in Washington, DC. As a result, the Architects selected Capital Refinishers, Inc to "age" the copper and bronze some 10 years. CRI achieved this by applying a patina solution that turns the copper and bronze green or Verde. This building won several architectural awards in 1994-95.
